standard

i got a flat tire yesterday.

on my 2 week old car.

i was driving levi to school when someone next to me honked and rolled down her window. she told me my tire was flat (the only indication was my "TIRE PRESSURE LOW" light that had moments before magically appeared on my dashboard).

i pulled into mr tire (luckily, a place i just KNEW would have air). but problem is, my new fancy car has tires that are filled with nitrogen and, well, most normal places dont have nitrogen.

panic stricken, with a fully flat tire, i called jeff. having a stay-at-home husband has never been nicer than when i needed him to immediately jump in the car and give me his car to deal with mine himself.

he arrived. called acura. arranged for them to immediately look at my car. and he took levi to school so i could make it to work not later than i already was going to be.

only problem with this fantastic scenario.
jeff has a stick shift car.
in theory, i know how to drive it. ive driven his car a handful of times, but mostly in the neighborhood, on a day when its not busy, in perfect weather, in no traffic, and NEVER on the highway. every time i drive it, it seems to stall at least a few times (i guess that means i really dont know how to drive stick). so, here i am, trying to drive his car ALL THE WAY TO CHARDON, 30 miles away. im late. im stressed. im mad.
but i did it! all the way, i did great! and i did great on the way home too! and i LIKED it! i was not scared when i was stopped on an incline getting off the highway, where previously i would have flipped out. i guess there really is truth to the theory that being in the situation is the best way to learn how to deal with it.

im not going to get myself a stick shift. BUT, maybe now i'll figure out how to use the paddle shifters on my car. all the fun without all the fuss....

That's a great story, Marni, & I hope your car is okay! I've driven manual for years & I love it!
