im heartbroken. i know ive complained about my crazy food obsessed dog before. ive offered her to a number of people- always with a smile or a smirk, *always* jokingly.
but now, its real.
the other night, levi got to feed trio as tali was "doing her business" in the bathroom (yes, in other news, we have a girl who wears underpants now!). tali comes running out of the bathroom feeling slighted that she didnt get to feed trio dinner. after explaining to her that it was levi's turn, she proceeded to stick her hand into trio's bowl to try to remove the food so she could put it back in and feed trio herself. trio, crack addict that she is, was incredibly threatened at the prospect of even a morsel of food being taken from her, and she snapped.
words were exchanged. blood was drawn.
end of story is that tali has a swollen finger and is on antibiotics.
i guess its not really the "end of story" because now we need to figure out what to do about trio.
i think we understand that once biter, always a biter. we are not letting the kids feed her anymore, thats for sure.
but what do we do? i know she felt bad after biting tali, but what's to stop her from biting tali again? whats to stop her from biting anyone else who tries to take food away from her, especially an unknowing child coming over for a playdate?
she is as sweet as sugar. she loves being pet, loves curling up and getting cozy, and has always been really good around the kids. she just has a food problem.....
i want to find her a good home, a place where she will be loved, cared for, and treated as a member of the family. help me, please!

Don't blame the dog. Dogs protect their food. It's instinct. You don't get rid of the stove because Tali burned her hand on it. I got bit by my family dog about every 3rd month growing up. I learned quick what to avoid and deserved what I got. Teach the kids not to threaten an eating dog just like you teach them not to touch the stove or play with knives.
I know that this might not be any of my business but I think you should give Levi another chance if he/she does it again then I think you should give her/him away. But before that you could try training her/him not to do it again. I really hope Levi doesn't do it again and Tali to get better (I've been bitten by a dog before and it really hurt!!)
sad story. Best of luck finding a good home.
